If you input placeName="" (empty string) and an envelope < 0.5 degrees (in projection "4326") in both directions, then Place Finder Web Service returns all locations within that bounding box. The default value for the parameter count is 20.
Place Finder Web Service looks for commas to denote substrings in a search. If you do not use commas, the whole string is interpreted as the place name.
Strings separated by commas after the first string are used to help narrow the search in other fields of the database. Below are three scenarios for a Place Finder search:
Boise
Boise, Idaho
Boise, Idaho, US
Each additional substring further restricts the search. If one of the substrings is not listed with the main search term in the database, the request does not return a match.
Place Finder supports English and has limited support for European languages.
