ArcWeb Explorer JavaScript Markers

For AWX JavaScript, a marker is an icon used to represent a point location on a map and can be in raster (jpeg, gif, png) or vector (swf) format. Use the following raster icons in your AWX JavaScript maps or download an SWF marker to customize for your site.

The default marker for geocoding is home_icon.png.

See Quick-Start Guide for a sample on adding markers. See Quick-Start Plus Guide for a variety of samples using markers.

Sample SWF Marker for Download

You can download a sample SWF marker to customize and use on your Web site with AWX JavaScript. The sample SWF marker download includes the following files:

Downloading the SWF marker

  1. Download the sample SWF marker. The SWF marker must be stored on the same local server as the Web page where ArcWeb Explorer is located.
  2. To implement the SWF marker on your site, refer to the localSWFMarkerSample.htm file included with the SWF marker download. Ensure that marker style source is defined as:
  3. markerStyle.source = "http://<YOUR LOCAL HOST>/<YOUR LOCAL SWF>";

SWF marker customization

The localSWFMarker.fla file in this download contains the code for the SWF marker and can be modified for your Web site.

Information on creating and modifying Flash files for your markers can be found in the Flash documentation.
