Using style sheets

Style sheets are a collection of predefined styles that control the appearance of map services. ArcWeb applies style sheets to maps when the map is requested from ArcWeb Services; style sheets are not part of the map service definition. Style sheets are defined by ESRI cannot be modified.

You can only apply style sheets to map services hosted by ArcWeb. Remotely hosted data sources, such as GlobeXplorer and ESRI Italia, do not support style sheets.

The following style sheets are available:

To preview a map service with a style sheet

  1. From the Content Library page, use the filter boxes to find the service to preview.
  2. Click the Preview icon for the service. The Preview page appears.
  3. From the Style Sheet menu, choose a style sheet. The map appearance changes.

NOTE: Although you can preview style sheets in the ArcWeb site for ESRI services, you cannot associate a style sheet with a service. To have a service appear with a specific style sheet, you need to specify the style sheet in the map request. See the MapImageOptions section of the Object descriptions for information about how to include the style sheet specification in the request.
